Caravelas is a small city in the South of Bahia, at 74 km from Teixera de Freitas. It has a large fishing community and it's the main gateway to visit the Parque Nacional Marinho dos Abrolhos.

Next to the harbor every Monday morning there is a market. Farmers from the Ilha da Cassumba sell their crop.
