Leaving Caravelas and heading into the direction of Barra you pass by Kitongo beach. It's a walk of about half an hour, or five minutes by bus. The Abrolhos park guards (IBAMA) and the whale research project (Projeto Baleia Jubarte) are situated at this tiny beach on the Caravelas river.
