On the other side of the Caravelas river lies the Ilha da Cassumba. This is a large island surrounded by mangroves. On the island live some 200 families.

A blue crab. The crabs make holes in the ground that provide oxygen for the mangroves.

On the island there is one road. The road has been constructed by some oil-company
